Be the Light, See the Light

Heather Ward , Artist and Educator

Heather Ward started her career as a photographer and painter having showings and working on commissions regionally in the Northern United States. She soon became a full time teaching artist and worked with arts and community nonprofits as a visiting artist and art instructor. Ward began to make little wooden sculptures with her oldest daughter. These sculptures lead her to create the business Star House, where Ward creates simple wooden sculptures for decoration and celebration. Most of this work is commissioned and is found in thousands of homes nationally and internationally. Creating for Ward is a mediation on what is true, inspiring and possible. She finds so much grace, love, and awe through creating and hopes to share a little of that with everyone who encounters her work.

Portrait of Heather Ward by her then three year old daughter  "mama"

"I live and work in a tiny hillside cottage with my family (fantastic daughters, beautiful dog, and chickens). Our home faces west so most evenings are filled with glorious sunsets over the mountains. The sunsets remind me that at the end of the day, when all is said and done, we are here to create and appreciate beauty."                                                                                                                                                  -Heather Ward
